SUNBURY — Democratic state House candidate Amber Neidig is pressing Republican Representative Mike Stender to take a public stand on a data center moratorium. Neidig is challenging Stender for the 108th District seat.
Neidig says she wants a yes-or-no answer on whether Stender would support temporarily halting new data center development while its impacts are studied. She cites concerns about electricity costs, water use, grid reliability, land use and local communities.
Neidig says the governor’s executive order imposed new requirements on data center projects but stopped short of a moratorium. She argues any statewide moratorium would require action by the General Assembly. We’ll reach out to Rep. Stender for his view on this topic.
