BERWICK — Three adults and seven children escaped without injury after an early morning fire in Berwick. The Press Enterprise reports the blaze heavily damaged both sides of a double home. Berwick Police helped evacuate the building as firefighters protected neighboring homes from intense heat.
Volunteers from Berwick, Espy, Catawissa and Salem Township responded. The Press Enterprise reports a family cat died, while the Red Cross was contacted to assist residents. State police fire marshals are investigating the cause.
