Four-Alarm Fire Damages Danville Armed Forces Center
VALLEY TOWNSHIP — A four-alarm fire damaged the Danville Armed Forces Reserve Center in Montour County Friday. Officials say everyone escaped safely, and no injuries were reported. The Standard Journal reports…roofers started the fire while replacing a section of the roof.
The fire started around 11 a.m. Flames spread through roofing materials and insulation at the Liberty Valley Road facility. Volunteers from 17 departments responded, and crews needed about two hours to control the blaze. The roof sustained significant damage, while the building also suffered water damage.
The widespread response required other departments to provide station coverage. Mifflinburg firefighters were among those transferred to Milton while Milton crews assisted at the Danville fire.

Fast-Moving Fire Heavily Damages Sunbury Market Street Home
SUNBURY — A fast-moving fire heavily damaged a large home in the 1100 block of Market Street Friday afternoon. Emergency crews were called around 4:40 p.m., fire officials said all residents escaped safely. Initial 911 communications indicated the fire began in the kitchen of the three-story home and quickly prompted a second alarm.
Flames extensively damaged the rear, while smoke, fire and water damaged other portions of the house. The home was once among Market Street’s stately residences and was occupied by Donald Ely and other family members. No injuries were reported. Again, volunteers from distant fire companies were involved in a standby capacity.
