LEWISBURG — Geisinger opened a new cancer center in the Lewisburg area , expanding treatment options for Union County patients.
The center is expected to begin seeing patients . Geisinger says the facility will help more people receive cancer care closer to home.
Regional chemotherapy demand is expected to rise about eight percent during the next five years. The 20,000-square-foot center includes 15 infusion stations, 12 exam rooms and radiation treatment services. It will also offer oncology, hematology and Union County’s first Geisinger palliative care clinic.
Officials say the center increases appointment availability while reducing the need for patients and families to travel for treatment.
