HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania has confirmed 202measles cases this year, including 35 reported during the past week. State health officials say none of those infected were fully vaccinated.
Northumberland County has six confirmed cases, while Snyder County has one. Lancaster County remains the center of the outbreak with 63 cases.
Thirty-three patients have been hospitalized, and no measles-related deaths have been reported. The state updates its online measles dashboard three times each week.
Measles spreads through the air and can remain infectious for up to two hours. Two MMR vaccine doses provide about 97-percent protection, according to health officials.
