RUPERT — The Press Enterprise is reporting… In Columbia County, Montour Township planners recommended allowing data centers as a conditional use Wednesday night. Each proposal would still require township supervisors’ approval. The proposed area lies south of Route 11, between the Montour County line and Legion Road. It would stop before Grovania Drive.
Planning commission members say the location is the township’s least densely populated area. They want regulations adopted before any formal application arrives. The draft requires at least 50 acres for a data center property. Only one building would be allowed for every 20 acres.
The Press Enterprise states buildings could not exceed 250,000 square feet or 50 feet in height. About 40 residents attended and raised oversight concerns.
