WASHINGTON — Senate Republicans say they would welcome Sen. John Fetterman if he decided to leave the Democratic caucus. US Senate Majority Leader John Thune confirmed he is discussing the possibility with Sen. Fetterman. Sen. Thune said several Republicans have spoken with Fetterman about the idea.
Thune added that any decision to switch caucuses would remain Fetterman’s choice. Fetterman has repeatedly said he plans to remain a Democrat. However, he recently said he would leave if Democrats officially became an anti-Israel party.
