HARRISBURG — The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is asking the public to help them raise $340,000 to provide two months of fresh produce this summer. The food bank says federal funding cuts reduced its monthly produce budget by $170,000. They also say they must pay for rising food, fuel, and transportation costs.
Additionally, a severe spring freeze damaged fruit crops across Pennsylvania. A Farm Bureau survey found 221 of 250 responding farmers reported losses. Nearly one-third said they faced total crop loss.
