HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania State Police made 303 DUI arrests during the Independence Day holiday enforcement period from July 3 through July 5. Troopers also investigated 635 crashes, including six fatal crashes that killed six people and 128 crashes involving injuries.
State police say 55 crashes involved an impaired driver, including three fatal crashes. Troopers issued 4,034 speeding citations, 541 seat belt citations and 97 child safety seat citations.
The three-day enforcement effort also resulted in nearly 10,900 other traffic citations. Last year’s four-day holiday period included 800 crashes, 16 deaths and 464 DUI arrests.
