DANVILLE — Geisinger says it is expanding security entrance screenings at its hospitals. Geisinger will add the screenings in Jersey Shore and Bloomsburg.
Starting . The health system says everyone using public hospital entrances, including staff, patients, and visitors, will be screened.
A spokesman says the screenings began in March at hospitals in Danville, South Wilkes-Barre, Shamokin, and Muncy. Geisinger Wyoming Valley is expected to add screenings by the end of summer, with Lewistown and Scranton campuses following in the fall.
Geisinger security official Sean McGinley says the program has already kept hundreds of weapons out of hospitals. Weapons, including firearms and knives, are prohibited at all Geisinger facilities.
