The Daily Item reports more than 150 people attended the hearing in Selinsgrove regarding the police department working with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. The newspaper reports residents voiced their opposition to the program for about an hour to members of Selinsgrove Borough Council. The program would allow borough police to assist in limited immigration enforcement in exchange for financial assistance for new vehicles, equipment and reimbursed salary and benefits. The Daily Item reports the issue will be on the agenda for Selinsgrove’s public meeting Monday night, but a vote is not certain.
