LIBERTY TOWNSHIP — A Lewisburg couple died Tuesday after a three-vehicle crash on Route 45 in Liberty Township, Montour County. Montour County Coroner Deanna Force says the crash happened around 3:52pm.
The coroner says 75-year-old Thomas Berkheimer was driving east when he tried to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. Investigators say his vehicle hit an oncoming vehicle head-on, which then struck a third vehicle.
Force says Berkheimer died at the scene, and 74-year-old Joyce Berkheimer died at Geisinger Medical Center. State police say a 52-year-old Mifflinburg woman suffered a suspected minor injury.
