SUNBURY — Traffic changes are coming for drivers who use the Route 405 bridges between Sunbury and Northumberland.
PennDOT says the Route 405 detour between Northumberland and Sunbury goes into effect . It will allow a bridge maintenance and resurfacing project to continue on the Priestley and Edison bridges.
Crews will begin applying a new wearing surface on the two bridges over the Susquehanna River. That’s when traffic coming from Northumberland to Sunbury (southbound Route 405 traffic), will detour to Shamokin Dam and over the Veterans Memorial Bridge into Sunbury.
Northbound Route 405 will stay open through the work zone. That’s where PennDOT says drivers should expect single-lane conditions with flaggers from 7am to 5pm. Other work includes sign replacement, bridge lighting upgrades, guardrail upgrades, and tree trimming.
