ALLENTOWN — PPL Electric Utilities says residential bills will increase after state regulators approved new distribution rates. The company says the average residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours will pay about $6.48 more per month.
PPL says the 3.23% increase will support system upgrades, including stronger poles, wires, equipment, tree trimming, and smart grid technology. The company says the investments are aimed at reducing outages and speeding up restoration.
PPL says the settlement also expands low-income assistance and removes reconnection fees for income-eligible customers.
