HARRISBURG — State officials are highlighting efforts to protect native plants, forests and waterways. The Invasive Species Council marked the fifth annual Pennsylvania Native Species Day at the State Capitol.
DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn says native plants are the foundation of Pennsylvania’s ecosystems. She says they support pollinators and wildlife, strengthen forests and waterways, and help ensure clean air and water:
Sec. Dunn says programs like “Invasive Replace,” Lawn to Habitat and urban tree planting help communities restore native habitats. Officials say the efforts also reduce invasive species and reconnect Pennsylvanians with the state’s natural landscapes. More information is available at NativeSpeciesDay.pa.gov.
