SELINSGROVE — Selinsgrove residents are being urged to attend Monday night’s Borough Council meeting over a proposed ICE partnership. Borough officials are considering a federal program which could provide money for police vehicles and equipment. The agreement would let local officers work alongside ICE.
In a new letter to residents Tony Butto and Pam White say ICE could gain a larger presence in Selinsgrove. They say possible activities could include monitoring, investigations, detentions or arrests.
The residents say they understand local police need reliable vehicles and updated equipment. But they are asking whether community fundraising could help meet those needs without bringing ICE operations into Selinsgrove. The meeting is 7pm Monday at the Selinsgrove Borough Building.
