HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania utility regulators are warning consumers to expect higher electric bills beginning June First as new electricity generation prices take effect statewide. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission says all regulated electric utilities will adjust their default “Price to Compare” rates ahead of increased summer energy demand.
Officials say rising supply costs, combined with heavier air-conditioning use during hot weather, could sharply increase monthly bills. The commission says customers using default utility supply service will likely feel the biggest impact.
Regulators encourage consumers to monitor usage, conserve electricity when possible, and contact utility companies now about budget billing, payment plans, or financial assistance programs before peak summer demand arrives.
