LEWISBURG — Activists in Lewisburg plan a vigil today outside the Federal Correctional Institution to highlight immigrants detained there by ICE. The SUN Immigrant Community Support Group says the event begins at 3pm near the prison’s main gate and focuses on dignity, prayer, and due process for detainees.
Organizers says more than 150 immigrants are being held at the prison, including some with pending asylum cases. Organizers say the vigil also launches a five-day “Witness Walk” pilgrimage from Lewisburg to Harrisburg in solidarity with detainees and a Sunday walk Lewisburg to Sunbury.
