WHITE DEER TOWNSHIP — Six aging Union County bridges have been replaced through a countywide bridge bundle project. The Standard Journal reports Union County partnered with five municipalities to replace bridges in Hartley, Lewis, West Buffalo, and White Deer townships, plus New Berlin Borough.
Funding included $2.1 million from PennDOT, $475,000 from DCED, $500,000 from Union County, and nearly $400,000 from municipalities. County officials say bundling the six projects into one contract improved efficiency and strengthened the county’s grant application.
The Standard Journal reports officials thanked Senator Gene Yaw and Representative Jamie Flick for helping secure state funding.
