SHAMOKIN — An incident involving a pocketknife at a Shamokin Area elementary school is raising concerns, but officials say there was no threat. The district says a student was found with the knife and officials say it was immediately addressed.
School officials and local police say the knife was safely confiscated, and they fully followed all school policy and state laws. Normal operations continued without disruption.
Superintendent Chris Venna says student and staff safety remains the top priority, with continued coordination with law enforcement. He says the public notification was issued in accordance with a law which requires public reporting of such incidents.
