HARRISBURG — In Harrisburg, Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver promoted a proposal supporting living organ donors during a Capitol press conference. She said the bipartisan bill aims to ease financial burdens tied to donation, “We should not allow out of pocket costs to stand in the way of that generous act. This legislation would allow a living organ donor to deduct up to $10,000 in unreimbursed expenses related to donation.”
Officials say eligible costs include travel, lodging, lost wages, and medical expenses related to donation.
Culver says donors should not bear financial hardship for saving lives. Officials say the proposal comes as April is recognized as Donate Life Month, highlighting awareness of organ, eye, and tissue donation.
