MILL HALL — In Lamar Township, Clinton County, a house fire killed a mother and six children morning. State police say crews were dispatched around 8:30am to the 700 block of Long Run Road for an explosion and structure fire. Troopers say seven occupants were trapped inside as flames fully engulfed the home upon arrival.
State police say there was no ability to conduct a search or rescue due to the intensity of the fire. They say the victims include 34-year-old Sarah Stolzfus and her six children. A news release from state police say the children were four boys, ages 11, 10, 5, and 3, and two girls, ages 8 and 6.
Investigators say a propane leak inside the home is a possible cause of the explosion and fire. State police say exterior propane tanks did not explode and were not contributing factors to the blaze.
