DANVILLE — Montour County commissioners have approved new regulations for data centers.
Commissioners unanimously passed the amended law , but then immediately sent it back to their county planning commission for further review.
County solicitor Michael Dennehy says the vote was needed before a six-month moratorium expires next week. He says state law requires data centers be allowed somewhere, with the ordinance focusing on how they are regulated.
Over the past few weeks, some residents pushed back on the commissioner’s changes, saying they did not go far enough. Commissioner Trevor Finn said height and setback distances are the key issues. Commissioners said they may have further changes in the future.
