WASHINGTON DC — The federal government fighting to locate two ICE detention centers in Berks and Schuylkill counties. The Pennsylvania Capital-Star reports federal immigration officials are appealing DEP orders blocking water and sewage use.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement argues the orders interfere with federal enforcement responsibilities. Plans call for a 7,500-person facility at a former warehouse in Tremont Township, Schuylkill County. Officials say the project could strain water systems and local infrastructure in the area.
