SUNBURY — Northumberland County is recognizing a strong community response during this past winter’s extreme cold weather. Rebecca Baker, the director of the Emergency Management Agency said, the county activated Code Blue protocols to help protect vulnerable residents, then many community members stepped up. “Because of you, lives were protected. Because of you, our community is stronger. And, with your continued support, we can do even more in the future. On behalf of the county commissioners and public safety and emergency management, thank you for your partnership, your generosity, and your unwavering commitment to helping others.”
Baker says Stonington Volunteer Fire Company and Shikellamy High School provided warming sites and the American Red Cross donated cots. She said Weis Markets contributed food and drinks, Victoria and Christine Rosencrans, along with Central Susquehanna Opportunities, helped supply food, essentials, and support.
