ALLENTOWN — PPL Electric Utilities is seeking approval for a smaller rate increase than originally proposed. They filed a revised proposal Friday with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. Officials say PPL first requested a $356 million distribution rate increase last fall. The revised proposal asks for about $257 million instead.
If approved, officials say the average residential customer would see an increase of about $8.65 per month. The company says that represents an increase of about 4.9 percent. Officials say an administrative law judge is reviewing the settlement proposal. New rates could take effect on or after July 1 if approved.
