COAL TOWNSHIP — An inmate at the state prison in Coal Township is accused of attacking two correctional officers. NorthcentralPA.com reports the incident happened at the State Correctional Institution.
State police say 27-year-old Luiz Padin allegedly assaulted a sergeant and another officer during a confrontation on a housing block. Authorities say both officers were treated for injuries at Geisinger Shamokin Hospital.
Court records show Padin was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault. Charges were filed through the office of District Judge William Zalinski.
