WEIKERT — A house fire heavily damaged a home in the Weikert area Thursday afternoon. Fire officials say the 1:30pm fire was in the 5800 block of Weikert Road. Union County West End Fire Company requested a second alarm after arriving on scene. Several Union and Centre County volunteer fire companies responded.
Ambulance and other EMS crews were sent to the scene. Firefighters operated on scene for about 2 hours before returning to service. Officials said the home was gutted by the fire. No injuries were reported in the incident. After this fire, volunteers were also dispatched to a transformer fire in the area, according to the company.
