The Daily Item reports Sunbury Police swore in Brad Slack as their new police chief on Monday night. Following a unanimous vote by city council, Slack was sworn in by Mayor Josh Brosious. He replaces Chief Travis Bremigen, who retired in December. The newspaper reports Slack’s family was present for the swearing in along with about 75 residents in attendance at the city council meeting.
Meanwhile, former Sunbury police chief Travis Bremigen tells the Daily Item he will run for Northumberland County Sheriff. Bremigen told the newspaper he plans to run because he wants to bring his 26 years of law enforcement knowledge and new ideas to the county. The race for sheriff is in 2027. Bob Wolfe is the current Northumberland County sheriff and has been in that position since 2014.
