LEWISBURG — The Standard Journal is reporting… Union County commissioners approve a nearly $21.5 million 2026 general fund budget with no property tax increase. The spending plan is about $616,699 higher than the county’s 2025 budget. The newspaper reports the millage rate stays at 4.72 mills.
Commissioner Chair Preston Boop says a separate certification vote “did not authorize spending or determine the source of funds.” The Standard-Journal reports eligible employees receive step increases plus a 1% base salary adjustment. Commissioners also voted 2-1 to certify $57,000 for ag land preservation.
