Counties Approve Plans For Airport Solar Project
RIVERSIDE — A major solar project is taking shape on land at the Danville Airport, where officials say as many as 6,000 panels could eventually be installed. The Standard-Journal reports… county commissioners in Northumberland and Montour counties have agreed to enter a lease with BlueWave Energy.
Brian O’Neill, the company’s director of solar development in Pennsylvania, says the counties own the land and lease it to the airport. The county permission will allow them to begin detailed design work. He says the project remains in early stages, and additional permitting and permissions are still required before construction can begin.
