DANVILLE — The Danville Riverside Food Bank served more than 600 families Saturday during its monthly food drive at Shiloh United Church of Christ in Danville. Organizers say an increase of about 200 families over the usual total. They say about 100 volunteers helped distribute food and supplies.
Families received fresh produce, milk, eggs, meat, canned goods, and a coupon for a free turkey for Thanksgiving. The event was held in partnership with the regional Feed a Friend program. Director Joe Neizer said ‘food insecurity’ has reached record levels in our region. For more information on upcoming food distributions, call 570-275-2500.
