Parents Sue Bucknell Over Football Player’s Death
WILLIAMSPORT — PennLive.com is reporting… The parents of an 18-year-old Bucknell University football player who died in 2024 have refiled their negligence lawsuit in federal court. The suit claims Bucknell’s staff failed to protect players with sickle-cell trait, including freshman lineman Calvin “CJ” Dickey Jr.
PennLive.com reports the lawsuit alleges Dickey collapsed after being forced to perform strenuous “burpees” during a team workout in July 2024. He died two days later at Geisinger Medical Center near Danville. The suit seeks unspecified damages and accuses Bucknell of reckless conduct leading to Dickey’s death.
