HARRISBURG — More than $25 million in funding will help improve drinking water quality in the Berwick region of Columbia and Luzerne counties. The money will support construction of a new treatment plant designed to remove PFAS chemicals from the local supply.
The project includes advanced filtration and corrosion control systems to provide cleaner, safer water for about 6,700 households. Work is expected to begin in 2026 and wrap up in 2027. Funding comes through PENNVEST, which helps communities upgrade vital water and sewer infrastructure statewide.
