LEWISBURG — A local nonprofit is working to protect older adults after a case of elder abuse in a Lewisburg facility. Journey to Justice was founded by Lynn Fiedler of Selinsgrove, “Journey to Justice began as a result of horrific elder abuse in a facility in Lewisburg where my mother was a resident and one of the victims.”
She said, after that happened, she realized the lack of protection in place for the older population and said she and others would work to affect positive change and promote education.
She said the group is a nonprofit organization that focuses on education for caregivers and for the public. Other components of their work, “We have another piece which is our beneficiary donation program where we use all of our donations toward improving the lives of older adults in facilities. We’ve purchased dementia friendly clocks, music boxes and provide music programs for these facilities.”
