MIFFLINBURG — Mifflinburg Bank and Trust Company and The Northumberland National Bank have received final regulatory approvals to complete their planned merger.
The Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities, FDIC, and Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia have all signed off. The transaction is expected to close around August 1.
The merged bank will operate under a new name: Central Penn Bank and Trust, or CPBT. The holding company will be renamed Steele Bancorp Inc.
CPBT will serve as a full-service commercial bank with branches in Mifflinburg, Lewisburg, Northumberland, Milton, Selinsgrove, Sunbury, and several other communities across Central Pennsylvania. Officials say the merger is designed to strengthen services and expand local reach.
