WASHINGTONVILLE — In Montour County, the Department of Environmental Protection is holding public meeting. A DEP representative will meet with concerned residents …this meeting is regarding Talen Energy’s proposed natural gas power plant expansion. The public session begins around 6 p.m. at DeLong Hall in Washingtonville. Organizers say the meeting will explain DEP’s Environmental Justice Policy and a pending request to opt the project into that process.
DEP leader Jordi Comas will explain how the decision works and how PennEnviroScreen is used. The tool quantifies and visualizes disproportionate environmental effects on vulnerable populations. The session will also explain how residents can participate in the permitting process.
