MIFFLINBURG — A monument honoring wounded and fallen veterans has a new home in Mifflinburg. WNEP reports the Purple Heart monument was rededicated Friday during National Purple Heart Day. The monument previously stood in Lewisburg for more than a decade.
Organizers moved it so ceremonies and gatherings could be held around it more easily. Vietnam veteran Robert Lauver received two Purple Hearts during his Army service. He says the monument helps explain what the medal represents and why those sacrifices matter.
