WILLIAMSPORT — About 60 protesters marched to the Lycoming County Courthouse , demanding two law enforcement resignations. NorthcentralPA.com reports they targeted District Attorney Tom Marino and county Detective Tyson Havens.
Havens stopped 18-year-old Jessie Lopez Jr. after questioning why he wore a hood. Video of the encounter later received millions of social media views. Williamsport Councilman Jonah Milliken accused Marino and Havens of contributing to “a culture of blatant racism.” He urged both men to resign or be removed.
NorthcentralPA.com says organizer Emily Gale-Alston encouraged residents to vote Marino out of office. Teacher Ian Perry also called for an independent civilian board reviewing law enforcement complaints. Marino and his office did not immediately comment.
