WASHINGTON — US Congressman Dan Meuser led a moment of silence on the US House floor for PA State Trooper Michael Pahira. The trooper was killed while inspecting a tractor-trailer along Interstate 81 in Cass Township, Schuylkill County.
Cong. Meuser said Trooper Pahira served for nearly 20 years and earned widespread respect throughout the communities he protected, “Trooper Pahira faithfully served the people of Pennsylvania for nearly two decades and his sacrifice will never be forgotten. On behalf of the entire Pennsylvania delegation, I want to offer our deepest sorrow and condolences to the Pahira family, his lifelong friends, the great brave Pennsylvania state troopers and all of those mourning Mikey’s loss.”
Cong. Meuser also called for passage of Dalilah’s Law, which would restrict commercial driver’s licenses to US residents, green card holders and temporary work visa holders. A bipartisan group of Pennsylvania lawmakers joined the tribute, including US Congressman Glenn Thompson.
