McCLURE — There was a traffic fatality over the weekend. A Winfield man was killed, and a Tyrone man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash evening in McClure.
Middleburg police say they were dispatched around 5:30pm to Route 522 just north of Forbes Street. They say 31-year-old Ronald Whitman Jr. died at the scene. 32-year-old Clinton Muir was flown to Geisinger Danville.
Investigators say the vehicle rapidly accelerated from the intersection with Specht Street, lost traction, spun, rolled down an embankment, and ejected both occupants. PennDOT assisted with a detour while Route 522 was closed for about an hour.
