The Daily Item reports a Mount Carmel woman was sentenced to up to 11 years in state prison for felony aggravated animal cruelty. 42-year-old Heather Russin pleaded guilty to 22 charges filed against her in May. Russin was sentenced Monday to 33 months to 11 years in state prison. Police say they found three dead dogs frozen to the ground at a home in Point Township and another nine dogs starving inside the home in February of 2025. The Daily Item reports her co-defendant, 42-year-old Eric Hunter was found guilty in May on the same charges and will be sentenced at a later date.
