McCLURE — In Snyder County, a man allegedly killed his wife, then was involved in a fatal crash.
State police say a McClure woman was found dead morning after her husband called 911 and reported he had killed her. Police say 37-year-old Amanda Kay Heimbach was found dead at a home on West Specht Street shortly before 5 a.m.
The Daily Item reports Snyder County District Attorney Heath Brosius says she died from blunt force trauma to the head, but authorities had not released an official cause and manner of death .
Investigators say 51-year-old Jason Andrew Heimbach fled before troopers arrived in a vehicle registered to Amanda Heimbach. Police say Jason Heimbach later died after crashing into a parked tractor-trailer on Route 104 in Perry Township. That road and several streets in McClure were closed for a time but have since reopened.
