WASHINGTON — US Sen. Dave McCormick and US Sen. John Fetterman say Pennsylvania organizations will privately fund a state showcase at the Great American State Fair. The event is planned for the National Mall during America’s 250th anniversary celebration.
The senators say the effort will include groups representing Pennsylvania business, agriculture, manufacturing, and small businesses. They say no taxpayer money will be used. The announcement comes after Gov. Josh Shapiro said Pennsylvania would not spend $700,000 in state money to participate.
Gov. Shapiro told The New Republic the money would instead support celebrations across Pennsylvania. The senators say Pennsylvania’s history and industries should be represented during the national celebration.
