The Montour County’s Coroner’s Office told WNEP the crash occurred on Route 45 in Liberty Township at about 4 p.m.
Thomas Berkeimer reportedly was trying to pass in a no-passing zone when he struck an oncoming car head-on. Reports state the collision involved three cars in total.
75-year-old Berkeimer died at the scene. His wife, 74-year-old Joyce Berkeimer, was also in the vehicle, died from her injuries at the hospital.
The investigation reports stated that the couple were not wearing seat belts.
