PITTSBURGH — UPMC announced layoffs affecting about 200 employees. The health system says the cuts will mainly involve workers who are not in clinical or member-facing roles.
UPMC also says about 300 open positions will be eliminated. Those positions were not in active recruitment, and UPMC did not specify which departments or locations are affected. No indication, what impact, if any, will be felt in Williamsport and around this region.
The health system says affected employees will receive enhanced severance pay and benefits coverage. The new cuts come about two years after UPMC announced layoffs affecting about 1,000 workers.
