BLOOMSBURG — Soon, swimming will be a daily activity for families. A regional family and children’s resource is emphasizing water safety for children. Susquehanna Kids says learning to swim is a critical life skill.
A recent article quotes Geisinger pediatrician Dr. Laura Spahr encouraging families to invest time and money into swim lessons, “I encourage you to make it a high priority to ensure your child learns to swim.”
The article has guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics recommending lessons starting as early as age 1. Experts say constant, focused supervision is essential, even for strong swimmers.
Susquehanna Kids also highlights several local options, including the Danville Area Community Center, Knoebels Resort, and local YMCAs.
