Motorists are advised that a road and bridge improvement project continues next week on Front Street (Routes 405/61) in the City of Sunbury and the Thomas Edison and Joseph Priestley bridges in Upper Augusta Township, Northumberland County.
On , the contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc., and a sub-contractor will begin preparing for a new wearing surface on the island bridges between Northumberland Borough and the City of Sunbury. This work will be performed weekdays between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM and is expected to be completed in two weeks. Drivers can expect single lane conditions with flaggers controlling traffic.
Road resurfacing on Front Street (Routes 61 and 405) and Bridge Avenue (Route 405) will continue during nighttime hours of 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM with the final layer of pavement and pavement markings being placed. This work is expected to be completed by and will be performed under single lane conditions with flaggers controlling traffic.
Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. is the prime contractor for this $3.7 million roadway improvement project. Additional work includes milling and resurfacing on Front Street in Sunbury and Bridge Avenue in Upper Augusta Township, overhead sign replacement on the Thomas Edison Bridge, epoxy overlay and lighting upgrades on the Thomas Edison and Joseph Priestley bridges, guide rail upgrades, tree trimming and pavement markings. Work on this project is anticipated to be completed in .
