HARRISBURG — State police and local departments are increasing DUI enforcement across Pennsylvania for the Memorial Day travel weekend.
Troopers say checkpoints and roving patrols will run from through in several counties throughout our region. Authorities say the Pennsylvania Turnpike also plans increased patrols during the holiday weekend.
Troopers say last Memorial Day weekend resulted in 519 DUI arrests, 57 impaired-driving crashes, and five traffic deaths statewide. Police remind drivers the legal blood alcohol limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08 percent and warn penalties can include fines, license suspensions, jail time, and ignition interlock requirements.
Additionally, the state Fish and Boat Commission is asking boaters to remember to wear life jackets and avoid operating a boat while impaired. They have more information at operationdrywater.org.
