LEWISBURG — Community groups and borough officials are working together to expand Lewisburg’s urban tree canopy through a new native tree planting effort.
Lewisburg Neighborhoods says eight bare-root native trees were recently planted on public property, mainly near the Bull Run stream corridor behind Brendan’s Town Tavern.
Organizers say additional trees were also planted along North Second Street to replace removed street trees and support long-term flood mitigation and beautification efforts.
The project involved Lewisburg Neighborhoods, the Lewisburg Borough Public Works Department, the Lewisburg Borough Shade Tree Commission, and Tree Pennsylvania. Officials say the plantings support cleaner air, stormwater absorption, shade, and long-term environmental sustainability.
